a word from the owner...

"After years of renting in Hackney, we took the plunge and invested in a property. Forest Gate was an obvious choice with its excellent transport connections, ensuring an easy morning commute. The abundance of green spaces, including West Ham Park, Wanstead Flats, and Wanstead Park, makes it an ideal haven for dog owners. Our neighbourhood boasts Wild Goose Bakery, serving tasty sourdough, coffee, and cakes. For fitness enthusiasts, CrossFit Dawn, situated in the Army Reserve Centre, receives a perfect 10/10 for its outstanding trainers and positive vibes. Our home exudes a warm and inviting atmosphere. We have upgraded the kitchen and bathroom, opting for cork flooring and a neutral colour palette. Spanning the full width of the house, the primary bedroom boasts an impressively generous size with built-in wardrobes, ideal for concealing any clutter. Outside, the garden is perfectly designed for entertaining while requiring minimal upkeep."

Studley Road, Forest Gate — Stow Brothers

If you’ve already heard Chiwetel Ejiofor or Idris Elba proudly discussing their hometown, you probably don’t need us to convince you of Forest Gate’s merits, but for those who haven’t, let us catch you up…

With a heritage rooted in culture, it’s not surprising that Forest Gate has a strong creative community today. During just one week in the 60s, the Upper Cut Club music venue there hosted – deep breath – The Who, the Animals, the Spencer Davis Group, Geno Washington and Jimi Hendrix. These days you’re more likely to find the area’s artistic-types supping drinks in the cool cafes and bars. Along with the period property and proximity to green space, this independent scene has been the main draw for new arrivals to the area, although the fact that Forest Gate is now on the Crossrail’s Elizabeth line has definitely helped nudge people in the right direction.
