"We moved to Woodlands Road from Hackney 7 years ago and fell in love with the street and the area. We are fortunate to have found ourselves surrounded by many like-minded couples and families, with lots of neighbours who have become friends. Being in lockdown reinforced how lucky we felt to live here; with amazing support from the active and generous street Whatsapp group. The house has been dramatically extended, honouring the beautiful original Victorian features alongside modern comforts, light and space. Light floods through the house from the rear extension, and the south-facing garden is a glorious sun-trap which feels just like another room. From the cosy open fire in the winter, to enjoying a cuppa in the window-seat overlooking the scented wisteria and wild roses rambling across the pergola - it’s a delight to live in. We knew little about Wood Street when we first arrived but now can't imagine living anywhere else. Close to Walthamstow village, God's Own Junkyard and the Ravenswood breweries but with our own vibrant community and ever-evolving scene right here. Wood Street Wall’s artists adorn our streets, we have plentiful fantastic cafes, shops, restaurants and the Duke is a great local. So many parks, activities and events for kids and just as much for adults. You will love it!"

Situated on the edge of spacious Epping Forest, but every inch urban London, Walthamstow is one of those rare locations where you can have your (artisan) cake and eat it too. 

Built from proper East End roots, the rapidly expanding community has transformed the area into a buzzy, creative hub and destination in its own right, making Walthamstow’s close proximity to central London less relevant than it perhaps once was (although if you must leave, it’s only a short hop on the Victoria line or London Overground). In fact, these days you’re more likely to see daytrippers coming into the area, keen to sample its varied offerings of food, drink, culture and green space. However, lucky locals get the added benefit of being part of a genuinely cheery community – and amongst the first to know about that latest hot new opening.
