"I loved living in this beautiful flat, which was my home for 6 years and I was sad to be leaving it, although really happy to still be living in the area. My dad and I did the flat up together, and as we are from Denmark, this shows in the minimal style and design choices that we made from the concrete kitchen countertop, wooden hardwood floors, handmade ceramic sink with a mid-century vanity unit, to the solid wood front door and the black rustic fireplace with a gas fire that works. The handmade tiles in the bathroom are handmade lava tiles from Italy and were a present from my sister. I still think they are the most beautiful tiles I have ever seen. A few minutes walk away, there is a large green space called Cheney Row park which in the past few years has been transformed into fab park and playground, complete with a BMX track where they do classes for kids and adults. From here, you can walk down a back path all the way to the Marshes. In the other direction you can walk to all the new bars and restaurants towards Blackhorse Road, and Lloyd Park is a five minute walk where you’ll find tennis courts, a playground, an outdoor gym and a food market every Saturday. Us locals call the area Awesomestow and I’m sure you’ll discover why (if you don’t already know).”

Situated on the edge of spacious Epping Forest, but every inch urban London, Walthamstow is one of those rare locations where you can have your (artisan) cake and eat it too. 

Built from proper East End roots, the rapidly expanding community has transformed the area into a buzzy, creative hub and destination in its own right, making Walthamstow’s close proximity to central London less relevant than it perhaps once was (although if you must leave, it’s only a short hop on the Victoria line or London Overground). In fact, these days you’re more likely to see daytrippers coming into the area, keen to sample its varied offerings of food, drink, culture and green space. However, lucky locals get the added benefit of being part of a genuinely cheery community – and amongst the first to know about that latest hot new opening.
