"We have loved living in Walthamstow. We chose this house for its proximity to green spaces (and the station!) - we take our dogs to the meadow at the top of Upper Walthamstow road, which is just a few minutes walk, Hollow Ponds and Chingford Plain for regular walks, or sometimes follow the walking route out as far as Highams Park, or on occasion, Epping. The cycleways to Hackney and Bethnal Green have really been great - we particularly like going to the lido at London Fields, or blackberry picking on the marshes. Like many Wood Street residents, we're devotees of Chocolatine - for the bread and their chocolatey namesake, Dudley's coffee, toasties at the new deli, and beer and wine from the new Clapton Craft. We love to eat out and our regular spots are Arte & Pasta and the Queen's Arms, or we got a tiffin box for waste free (and delicious!) vegan curry from Spice Box. We're also no strangers to Yard Sale and Gokyuzu! We're lucky to be blessed with great neighbours, and over the fence chats (and quiz!) during lockdown helped keep us all going."

Situated on the edge of spacious Epping Forest, but every inch urban London, Walthamstow is one of those rare locations where you can have your (artisan) cake and eat it too. 

Built from proper East End roots, the rapidly expanding community has transformed the area into a buzzy, creative hub and destination in its own right, making Walthamstow’s close proximity to central London less relevant than it perhaps once was (although if you must leave, it’s only a short hop on the Victoria line or London Overground). In fact, these days you’re more likely to see daytrippers coming into the area, keen to sample its varied offerings of food, drink, culture and green space. However, lucky locals get the added benefit of being part of a genuinely cheery community – and amongst the first to know about that latest hot new opening.
