A naturally bright and impeccably appointed one bedroom apartment on the top floor of the iconic Strand building, an Art Deco affair dating back to 1925. You're just a short stroll from Hackney Central and the nightlife of Mare Street.

The inimitable style has been lovingly preserved throughout, with the immaculate, light-filled atrium and walkways soaring above the stately entrance hall.

IF YOU LIVED HERE...

After delighting in that splendid atrium, you'll step inside to find your substantial sleeper on the right, a 140 square foot double with a royal blue statement wall, integrated storage and a Juliet balcony. At the end of the hall, your family bathroom's tiled from top to toe in smoky sandstone with walk in shower cubicle and oversized boutique mirror.

Your dual aspect reception is a huge 250 square feet, with an oversized sash window and another Juliet balcony flooding it all with natural light and framing striking rooftop views. Plush, smoky grey carpet runs underfoot, and your kitchen sits off to one side, with designer stainless steel extractor, designer cabinets, integrated appliances and chunky white worktops.

Outside and you have Hackney Churchyard Gardens just two minutes away at the end of your street, a great spot for a morning run or an evening stroll. Stroll a little further and Mare Street, the heart of Hackney's famous nightlife, starts just a half mile away. Here you'll find a tremendous choice of bars, restaurants and venues, including the famous Hackney Empire, the renowned Hackney Picturehouse and much loved local gems like The Old Ship Pub and Hotel.

WHAT ELSE?

- Both Hackney Central and Hackney Downs overground stations are around a half mile on foot, and the latter will get you straight to Liverpool Street in just eight minutes, for a door to door City commute of well under half an hour.
- Your timeless development is sat in expertly tended communal gardens, with artfully arranged patios and planters.
- There's more open greenery just ten minutes' walk away, where you'll find Hackney Downs Park, without doubt London's coolest public space, and home to The Star By Hackney Downs.

a word from the owner...

"We have thoroughly enjoyed living in the Strand Building. When we first walked in, we were amazed by the Art Deco details and the spacious, light-filled foyer, and we continue to be impressed by it even years later. Lower Clapton is a fantastic place to live, with a wide range of excellent restaurants, pubs, and wine bars all within a five-minute walk, as well as some great coffee and brunch spots. The flat benefits from beautiful dual aspect views, looking out towards both Canary Wharf and the City, while remaining completely private. In the summer, the Juliet balconies and large windows allow an abundance of sunshine to flood the space – it truly is a special spot! On lazy Sunday mornings, you can even hear the church bells ringing from Hackney Church while enjoying your morning coffee. The building has such a friendly atmosphere and is a wonderful place to live. We have genuinely loved our time here and will be sad to leave."

Our Local Guide:
Hackney

Urswick Road, Hackney — Stow Brothers

Where do you start with Hackney? It can feel like it’s all been said before, but, of course, it can’t have been because the area is constantly evolving, which is what keeps it so fresh. It’s just what happens when a neighbourhood has such a high population of creative innovators.

Even fans of Hackney’s scruffier edges love the imaginative ways that the area has been regenerated, with thoughtfully-designed stores, bars and coffee shops sitting comfortably alongside sleek architecture and beloved institutions such as Ridley Road Market.

Despite all this urban buzz, the area has a surprisingly large amount of green space, including Hackney Wick, Victoria Park and London Fields, which fill up with a mix of visitors and locals at weekends. Whether they go on to have food at a Michelin-starred restaurant, a pint in The Talbot or a swim in the lido, they’re all united in their love of this most unique community.
