a word from the owner...

"We fell in love with this flat and the completely overgrown with brambles garden straight away. We used to take walks in the forest here before we moved to the area and it was a dream to move to this neighbourhood. The flat feels big, so bright and with beautiful views all year round. So much green and so much sky. There are even windows above the doors for more light. We both love sitting on the back step with a coffee and looking at the trees and birds. There are so many different birds and mini-beasts here. The earth is good and everything grows well. There are 100 year old apple trees which still fruit well, a pear, a cherry and magnolia too. We grow raspberries, strawberries and salad and veg. Frogs, newts and toads also hang out in the garden. It’s totally private and not overlooked- but has had no need of tall fences and retains a beautiful open feeling which is so rare today. It’s just 1 minute to the forest , there are so many walks and bike rides - Hollow Ponds, Wansted Flats, Gilberts Slade, the pancake, up towards Highams Hill , Woodford Green, and more. St Peters church is there too, it’s newly refurbished and very much a part of the community with social events. Of course there’s the wonderful world of Wood Street too and further afield to Gods Own Junkyard and the other spots. There’s a nature reserve and community garden a street away. Local events are always packed with happy faces."

Our Local Guide:
Walthamstow

Upper Walthamstow Road, Walthamstow — Stow Brothers

Situated on the edge of spacious Epping Forest, but every inch urban London, Walthamstow is one of those rare locations where you can have your (artisan) cake and eat it too.

Built from proper East End roots, the rapidly expanding community has transformed the area into a buzzy, creative hub and destination in its own right, making Walthamstow’s close proximity to central London less relevant than it perhaps once was (although if you must leave, it’s only a short hop on the Victoria line or London Overground). In fact, these days you’re more likely to see daytrippers coming into the area, keen to sample its varied offerings of food, drink, culture and green space. However, lucky locals get the added benefit of being part of a genuinely cheery community – and amongst the first to know about that latest hot new opening.
