word from the owners...

"We love the number of large trees on the street and behind the house. They really take you through the seasons. It’s a really quiet location and we love not being overlooked at the back. The sense of community on the street has been wonderful, with an active WhatsApp group, a gardening group and a book club. The street also has its own notice board, library and planters. We have loved being so close to Wanstead Flats and Epping Forest for dog walks, enjoying the Sunday farmers market across the road and enjoying the local independent businesses under the railway arches. It’s been such a luxury to have places like the Wild Goose bakery, the Wanstead Tap and The Holly Tree just a short walk away. We have liked the fact that we can walk to either Leytonstone High Road or Forest Gate High Street for amenities and renowned restaurants like Singburi. Finally, being a short walk to the Elizabeth line and Central line stations has been so convenient. If one of them closes, there's always an alternative!"

Our Local Guide:
Forest Gate

Trumpington Road, Forest Gate — Stow Brothers

If you’ve already heard Chiwetel Ejiofor or Idris Elba proudly discussing their hometown, you probably don’t need us to convince you of Forest Gate’s merits, but for those who haven’t, let us catch you up…

With a heritage rooted in culture, it’s not surprising that Forest Gate has a strong creative community today. During just one week in the 60s, the Upper Cut Club music venue there hosted – deep breath – The Who, the Animals, the Spencer Davis Group, Geno Washington and Jimi Hendrix. These days you’re more likely to find the area’s artistic-types supping drinks in the cool cafes and bars. Along with the period property and proximity to green space, this independent scene has been the main draw for new arrivals to the area, although the fact that Forest Gate is now on the Crossrail’s Elizabeth line has definitely helped nudge people in the right direction.
