Victorian tradition seamlessly blends with sleek innovation across three floors of immaculately planned living space.

The front reception room will be your hideaway, with its generous windows, spotless decor and charming alcove, while the dining room to the rear is your hub for socialising. Hungry? Head to the nearby Winchelsea Road, a thriving hub with some fantastic eateries located in the old railway arches. Look out for Pretty Decent Beer, The Wanstead Kitchen, Wild Goose Bakery and Joyau. All excellent choices.

- For your new local we to recommend The Wanstead Tap, a bar, beer shop and performance space. Handily, it’s a four minute walk.
- Forest Gate station is under 15 minutes on foot, where you can use the Crossrail to get directly to Liverpool Street in about 13 mins or Bond St in 19 mins. Drivers have easy access to the M25 and North Circular.
-You’ll never be stuck for essentials since there’s an abundance of convenience stores nearby, plus you’re only a short four minute hop on the Elizabeth line from Stratford for Westfield (and the Olympic Park).

a word from the owner...

"We’ve loved living on Thorpe Road for the past 4 years, it’s been a great location for us and our growing family. With Wanstead Flats on our doorstep there is so much green space to explore and make the most of. The introduction of the LTN in the area transformed our road into a small and quiet cul-de-sac, and made it cleaner and safer for us and our children. We’ve also felt lucky to have such a great pub nearby in The Holly Tree, which has both child-friendly areas (including miniature ride-on train!) and an equally welcome adult only area to retreat to. Wildgoose bakery is a favourite for bread and pastries, as is the Can Club for keeping the kids entertained, and then Joyau wine bar for another kid-free option. The weekly farmer’s market is also a great way to start off a Sunday. We’ve been well served with an excellent local nursery and there are many good schools locally too. The transport links give easy, quick access to all parts of London, with the Elizabeth line cutting commuting times into town. We will be sad to leave our house - which we’ve loved making our home - and also the friendly, diverse neighbourhood where we have made many friends; but moving now to be closer to our families."

Our Local Guide:
Forest Gate

Thorpe Road, Forest Gate — Stow Brothers

If you’ve already heard Chiwetel Ejiofor or Idris Elba proudly discussing their hometown, you probably don’t need us to convince you of Forest Gate’s merits, but for those who haven’t, let us catch you up…

With a heritage rooted in culture, it’s not surprising that Forest Gate has a strong creative community today. During just one week in the 60s, the Upper Cut Club music venue there hosted – deep breath – The Who, the Animals, the Spencer Davis Group, Geno Washington and Jimi Hendrix. These days you’re more likely to find the area’s artistic-types supping drinks in the cool cafes and bars. Along with the period property and proximity to green space, this independent scene has been the main draw for new arrivals to the area, although the fact that Forest Gate is now on the Crossrail’s Elizabeth line has definitely helped nudge people in the right direction.

Wine bars, gastro pubs, microbrews, traditional boozers… With so many drinking establishments in Forest Gate, taking ‘a trip to the local’ can be a tricky decision. The CiderHouse, The Holly Tree and Forest Gate Tavern are just a few of the places to choose between.

Plenty of period property
