a word from the owner....

"One of our favourite things about this location is the beautiful park only 5 minutes away which our dog loves even more than we do. It's a lovely and safe street, and we have great neighbours on both sides. It's also so convenient with commuting options for multiple TFL lines - the Elizabeth Line and District Line, plus Overground, and a great selection of shops just a short walk away on Katherine Road. We love cooking and entertaining for our friends and family, so we're really going to miss the kitchen - it's the largest we've ever had and we've made some really memorable meals here. The Garden too, it's been such an oasis and also a really flexible space for alfresco dining - nestled amongst mature planting, vegetables and a decades-old grapevine which wraps around more than ten metres of the garden perimeter and provides a bountiful green canopy."

Our Local Guide:
Forest Gate

Stafford Road, Forest Gate — Stow Brothers

If you’ve already heard Chiwetel Ejiofor or Idris Elba proudly discussing their hometown, you probably don’t need us to convince you of Forest Gate’s merits, but for those who haven’t, let us catch you up…

With a heritage rooted in culture, it’s not surprising that Forest Gate has a strong creative community today. During just one week in the 60s, the Upper Cut Club music venue there hosted – deep breath – The Who, the Animals, the Spencer Davis Group, Geno Washington and Jimi Hendrix. These days you’re more likely to find the area’s artistic-types supping drinks in the cool cafes and bars. Along with the period property and proximity to green space, this independent scene has been the main draw for new arrivals to the area, although the fact that Forest Gate is now on the Crossrail’s Elizabeth line has definitely helped nudge people in the right direction.
