4 Bedrooms

A beautifully stately and elegantly appointed four bedroom Victorian end-of-terrace, grandly proportioned and enviably situated just moments from Wanstead Village. You also have a large garden, cellar and scope for further development.

Timeless vintage style and original features are very much in evidence throughout, from the gorgeous stained glass in the front door to the immaculately restored ornate mantelpieces in your lounges and bedrooms.

You'll be luxuriating in over 1250 square feet of living space, all immediately impressive, with your front door's leaded panes flanked by sections of gorgeous stained glass, casting rainbows over the immaculate geometric vintage tiling underfoot in your broad, welcoming hallway. Stairs carpeted in soft dove grey rise ahead, while the first of your twin receptions sits to your left.

In here you have over 200 square feet of bright sociable space, natural light flowing in through the large bay window to illuminate the flawlessly restored original timber floors and that beautiful copper mantel, with maroon tiled hearth. Next door your second reception's also nicely spacious, (but you can always connect them for a vast thirty foot through lounge).

Another striking hearth and mantel takes centre stage and more pale blond timber runs underfoot, while a pair of patio doors inlaid with stained glass open to your garden, a lengthy south-facing mix of patio and lawn. Back inside and your first floor is completed by your kitchen and the first of your two bathrooms, each bright and spacious.

Upstairs, your master bedroom's a huge 200 square feet, and features its own signature vintage hearth in an impressive echo of your front lounge. Next up is a bright sunny double, with oversized windows framing leafy garden views. There're more to be had to the rear, where your split level, dual aspect 120 aspect makes for a unique space. Bedroom four's a generous single, ideal for a child or home working space, while finally your second bathroom, immaculately tiled, completes the property.

Outside, and you're enviably situated directly opposite Christ Church Green, one of a number of leafy green spaces flanking Wanstead High Street, the bustling heart of this increasingly popular East London village. Just a couple of minutes away on foot, here you'll find an impressive array of lovable local cafes and supermarkets. There's even an artisanal butchers and dedicated fishmongers, plus a whole host of sumptuous gastropubs within a short walk, from the glorious Bull At Wanstead to the tranquil Nightingale On The Green, tucked away on Nightingale Lane.

- Despite the peaceful village feel, Central London is never far away. Wanstead station is less than five three minutes away on foot and will get you straight to Liverpool Street in just fifteen via the Central line, putting the City well within a half hour door to door.
- With the large vaulted loft space so far untouched, you can potentially add your own whole new storey, as some of your neighbours have done (subject to the usual permissions). You also have a large cellar, perfect for simple storage or further development. We've seen spaces like this turned into everything from home gyms to Tiki bars.
- Parents will be pleased to know that you have eleven primary/secondary schools less than a mile away on foot, all rated 'Good' or better by Ofsted. The 'Outstanding' Wanstead Church School is just a quarter mile on foot.

a word from the expert...

"Being a country girl at heart, for me Wanstead is the perfect blend of village/city living. With excellent transport links into the city, I often meet up with friends to explore the wonders of London. But I also enjoy going for long, leafy walks with Hollow Ponds and Wanstead Park on my doorstep. I was first attracted to Wanstead by its charming High Street, lush green spaces and choice of excellent schools. Since moving here, I have discovered some new favourites — for breakfast La Bakerie, lunch at Otto and The Duke for the best roast around. I love to stay active, and here in Wanstead you have lots to choose from. From organised yoga at Christ Church Green, personal training sessions at Target Fit or jogging around the various nature trails of Epping Forest. There is a great sense of community here in Wanstead, with informative Facebook groups, street parties, a monthly farmers’ market and the local jumble trail. I have made many friends locally, there is a genuine community spirit here and I am proud to call Wanstead my home." KYLI CLAYTON E11 BRANCH MANAGER

Our Local Guide:

Spratt Hall Road, Wanstead — Stow Brothers

Thanks to its royal connections and grand properties, Wanstead has previously been compared to the likes of Twickenham and Richmond, although East Londoners are quick to point out that it has plenty enough merits of its own.

For a start, despite its villagey feel, it’s proudly nestled within London’s most creative quadrant and only a short hop on the Central line from the bright lights of the City. There’s also an abundance of green space – Wanstead Flats, Epping Forest, Wanstead Park and Chalet Wood, with the seasonal display of bluebells in the latter just calling out for an accompanying picnic from one of the well-stocked local delis or cafes. But that’s not to say that Wanstead’s charming pubs and restaurants aren’t delightful to look at themselves – it’ll be deciding which to go for that’s the problem.
