Your garden's a low maintenance, fifty foot stretch of pristine patio, surrounded by brand new timber fencing and with a generous strip of lawn in the center. The best of both worlds.

IF YOU LIVED HERE...

All the love, care and expertise that's gone into this expert and extensive refurbishment is clear to see the minute you step through the door. Smooth, large format herringbone hardwood flooring runs underfoot in the hallway and on into your first reception, lit by a large bay window and overhead spotlights. Reception two's similarly styled, while your kitchen's a superb combination of royal blue cabinets, marbled worktops and pristine white letterbox splashbacks, with bifolding doors leading out to the garden.

A door leads off the kitchen down to your basement, 100 square feet of extra storage space so everything can have its place, and a spare WC completes the first floor. Upstairs now, where your principal bedroom spans the entire frontage at 160 square feet, softly carpeted as are the rest of your sleepers. Your first floor family bathroom's artfully appointed in large format smoke grey tilework and jet black fittings. Upstairs again for two more bright and sizeable bedrooms, and your second bathroom, a boutique, skylit affair in brass and marbled tiles from floor to ceiling.

Outside, and Forest Gate station is around a twenty minute walk or five minute bike ride for the superfast Elizabeth line and direct runs to the City and West End. Upton Park tube is closer still, for the Hammersmith & City and District lines, and you also have Woodgrange Park just half a mile away for the London Overground's Gospel Oak to Barking Riverside line. You're equally spoiled for nature, with Plashet Park just seven minutes on foot, West Ham Park twenty minutes away and the endless greenery of Wanstead Flats just a twenty five minute walk. You'll forget you're in London.

a word from the expert...

"When I decided to move to Forest Gate a few years ago, I was drawn by the great housing stock, the green spaces of Wanstead Flats and the friendly, up-and-coming vibe of independent boutiques, eateries, and bars.  I’ve spent many a happy weekend walking on the flats and in Wanstead Park. Often, I’ll finish up with an all-trimmings roast at The Holly Tree or perhaps a fantastic curry from The Wanstead Kitchen. After living here for a while, you really start to feel happy and settled. I love the arty, independent feel of Forest Gate, and I get the impression I’m not the only one — it’s something all the locals nurture and support." JOSEPH EARNSHAW E7 BRANCH MANAGER

Our Local Guide:
Forest Gate

South Esk Road, Forest Gate — Stow Brothers

If you’ve already heard Chiwetel Ejiofor or Idris Elba proudly discussing their hometown, you probably don’t need us to convince you of Forest Gate’s merits, but for those who haven’t, let us catch you up…

With a heritage rooted in culture, it’s not surprising that Forest Gate has a strong creative community today. During just one week in the 60s, the Upper Cut Club music venue there hosted – deep breath – The Who, the Animals, the Spencer Davis Group, Geno Washington and Jimi Hendrix. These days you’re more likely to find the area’s artistic-types supping drinks in the cool cafes and bars. Along with the period property and proximity to green space, this independent scene has been the main draw for new arrivals to the area, although the fact that Forest Gate is now on the Crossrail’s Elizabeth line has definitely helped nudge people in the right direction.

Great Pubs

Wine bars, gastro pubs, microbrews, traditional boozers… With so many drinking establishments in Forest Gate, taking ‘a trip to the local’ can be a tricky decision. The CiderHouse, The Holly Tree and Forest Gate Tavern are just a few of the places to choose between.

Plenty of period property

Forest Gate has an abundance of Victorian housing, ranging from terraces in the area dubbed ‘Forest Gate Village’ to semis and detached in the Woodgrange Estate conservation area. Whether you’re after a doer-upper or recently renovated period property, there should be something for your budget.
