A splendidly substantial four bedroom family home, laid out over three expertly developed storeys and more than 1100 square feet. Bright and airy throughout, it's perfectly located too, with Walthamstow Central just ten minutes on foot.

The original architecture is still very much in evidence here, from the smart Victorian frontage to the generous room sizes and period features throughout.

IF YOU LIVED HERE…

Highlights will be everywhere from the minute you step directly into your gloriously open plan, 330 square foot lounge and dining room. Dual aspect, with a bay window to the front and patio doors to the rear, the whole space is naturally bright. Lovingly restored original timber floorboards run underfoot, with an imposing vintage mantel and exposed brick hearth making for a fine focal point.

To the rear, and your kitchen's a sleek, tranquil affair, with smoky vinyl underfoot, a suite of complementary cabinets, timber worktops and a striking azure blue backsplash. There's another garden exit here, step outside for the paved, secluded side return, blooming out into a broad patio overlooking your garden proper. Here a generous length of Trulawn runs between timber fencing, ending in a lovely seating area overhung with mature greenery.

Upstairs, and your family bathroom's an especially striking affair. Flawless metro tiling runs from tub to ceiling, while the tub itself sits below an oversized rainfall shower. To the front, your principal sleeper's an epic 180 square feet, with bespoke floor to ceiling wardrobes and original floorboards. Bedroom two's another double, with a canary yellow colour scheme and more vintage floorboards. Finally, upstairs your loft suite includes a skylit double bedroom, second bathroom and fourth bedroom, currently in use as a home office.

Outside and, as noted, Walthamstow Central is less than ten minutes on foot. From here it's just twenty minutes direct to Liverpool and Oxford Circus, for half hour, door to door trips to both the City and West End. Just past the station is our main thoroughfare of Hoe Street, home to a great choice of wining and dining spots, including live entertainment at Ye Olde Rose & Crown Theatre Pub and, coming soon, the 1,000 seat Soho Theatre Walthamstow.

a word from the owner...

"We've loved our time on Somerset Road. It's a friendly and quiet street with lots of young families. There is an active street WhatsApp group and also a local community group that hosts lots of events that we have enjoyed such as a pop up cafe in the local park and the pop up pub in Stafford Hall. We've appreciated being so close to both Walthamstow central to get into town and Walthamstow Queens Road station to get to Hampstead Heath. There are several local parks nearby and on weekends we love walking through the Walthamstow Wetlands or going to Hollow Ponds in Epping Forest. Also nearby is Walthamstow village with restaurants (Eat 17 is our favourite), cafes and independent shops. The house has been a lovely home for us and our twin boys and we've particularly enjoyed the garden which gets plenty of sun."

Our Local Guide:
Walthamstow

Somerset Road, Walthamstow — Stow Brothers

Situated on the edge of spacious Epping Forest, but every inch urban London, Walthamstow is one of those rare locations where you can have your (artisan) cake and eat it too.

Built from proper East End roots, the rapidly expanding community has transformed the area into a buzzy, creative hub and destination in its own right, making Walthamstow’s close proximity to central London less relevant than it perhaps once was (although if you must leave, it’s only a short hop on the Victoria line or London Overground). In fact, these days you’re more likely to see daytrippers coming into the area, keen to sample its varied offerings of food, drink, culture and green space. However, lucky locals get the added benefit of being part of a genuinely cheery community – and amongst the first to know about that latest hot new opening.
