IF YOU LIVED HERE…

The property’s facade is a delightful blend of period charm and inviting character. Decorative columns, ornate mouldings and a handsome bay window are framed by classic brickwork with fresh white accents. A traditional tiled path leads to an elegant front door, setting the tone for the style and warmth that awaits inside. Mature trees at the front add a leafy, picturesque touch, offering both privacy and kerb appeal.
Inside, the hallway leads to all main rooms and houses two built-in cupboards as well as stairs down to the cellar. The reception room is a generously proportioned space where a large bay window fitted with classic shutters fills the room with natural light. Warm wood flooring and the versatile layout create a perfect backdrop for relaxed evenings or entertaining guests. The bedroom is equally appealing, offering a tranquil outlook and a glazed door with shutters that opens directly onto the garden, seamlessly linking indoors with the outdoors.
The bathroom has been thoughtfully finished with patterned floor tiles adding character, while white metro tiling and a large window contribute to the fresh, airy atmosphere. To the rear, the kitchen combines deep cabinetry with bright worktops and open shelving, all bathed in natural light from two windows overlooking the garden. Outside, the west-facing garden features a spacious deck, neat lawn, and a landscaped seating area — an ideal setting for alfresco dining or unwinding at the end of the day. Beyond the garden, a long cellar provides useful additional storage.
The surrounding area offers a wonderful balance of green space and vibrant community life. Plashet Park is just a short stroll away, providing open lawns and quiet spots to unwind. A little further on, Manor Park and the expansive Wanstead Flats encourage you to explore wide open fields, wooded corners and wildlife, perfect for walking, running or simply enjoying the fresh air. After time outdoors, The Golden Fleece offers a welcoming place to enjoy a drink or hearty meal. For coffee lovers, Ramble Café is a friendly spot with a great atmosphere and excellent brews. Meanwhile, the shops and eateries along Green Street bring colour and flavour to the neighbourhood.

a word from the expert...

"When I decided to move to Forest Gate a few years ago, I was drawn by the great housing stock, the green spaces of Wanstead Flats and the friendly, up-and-coming vibe of independent boutiques, eateries, and bars. I’ve spent many a happy weekend walking on the flats and in Wanstead Park. Often, I’ll finish up with an all-trimmings roast at The Holly Tree or perhaps a fantastic curry from The Wanstead Kitchen. After living here for a while, you really start to feel happy and settled. I love the arty, independent feel of Forest Gate, and I get the impression I’m not the only one — it’s something all the locals nurture and support." JOSEPH EARNSHAW E7 BRANCH MANAGER

Our Local Guide:
Forest Gate

Shrewsbury Road, Forest Gate — Stow Brothers

If you’ve already heard Chiwetel Ejiofor or Idris Elba proudly discussing their hometown, you probably don’t need us to convince you of Forest Gate’s merits, but for those who haven’t, let us catch you up…

With a heritage rooted in culture, it’s not surprising that Forest Gate has a strong creative community today. During just one week in the 60s, the Upper Cut Club music venue there hosted – deep breath – The Who, the Animals, the Spencer Davis Group, Geno Washington and Jimi Hendrix. These days you’re more likely to find the area’s artistic-types supping drinks in the cool cafes and bars. Along with the period property and proximity to green space, this independent scene has been the main draw for new arrivals to the area, although the fact that Forest Gate is now on the Crossrail’s Elizabeth line has definitely helped nudge people in the right direction.
