a word from the owner...

"We have absolutely loved living in this flat for the past 7 years. The large open-plan space that can be divided with sliding doors and the big loft-style windows with unobstructed views make the flat a wonderfully unique place to live. The whole building design is really well considered. We love the history of the building - The Trebor Sweet Factory - and hearing stories from passers-by who remember getting free sweets from the factory as a child. It's a real local landmark. You will get used to everyone from friends to delivery drivers saying how cool the flat and/or building is! We also love how quiet the flat is. Definitely a rare and coveted thing in London! The solid factory building work means we hardly hear our neighbours. The building as a whole has a community feel, People are friendly and respectful of each other. Neighbours help each other out. It's a really nice atmosphere to live in. This flat is the perfect space for hosting friends and family - especially at New Year's when we highly recommend you go up to the top floor to see fireworks displays going off all across London - truly spectacular!"

Our Local Guide:
Forest Gate

Shaftesbury Road, Forest Gate — Stow Brothers

If you’ve already heard Chiwetel Ejiofor or Idris Elba proudly discussing their hometown, you probably don’t need us to convince you of Forest Gate’s merits, but for those who haven’t, let us catch you up…

With a heritage rooted in culture, it’s not surprising that Forest Gate has a strong creative community today. During just one week in the 60s, the Upper Cut Club music venue there hosted – deep breath – The Who, the Animals, the Spencer Davis Group, Geno Washington and Jimi Hendrix. These days you’re more likely to find the area’s artistic-types supping drinks in the cool cafes and bars. Along with the period property and proximity to green space, this independent scene has been the main draw for new arrivals to the area, although the fact that Forest Gate is now on the Crossrail’s Elizabeth line has definitely helped nudge people in the right direction.
