As lovely as your peaceful locale is, you're well set for venturing further afield. Forest Gate station is just five minutes on foot with Liverpool Street a mere thirteen minutes away direct. With the imminent arrival of Crossrail, travel times and options will increase still further.

IF YOU LIVED HERE…

You'll be luxuriating in some utterly sumptuous, expertly realised and lovingly conceived Design & Decor from top to bottom. Take your 165 square foot front reception; it's elegantly appointed in soft cream and stately pastel green, with recessed spotlights overhead and pale engineered hardwood running underfoot.

That sleek flooring flows on past the staircase into your dining room, another fine, bright space laid open to your kitchen, itself handsomely decked out with underlit cream cabinets, rich dark countertops and a matching chef's island taking centre stage. Step out into precisely landscaped garden for a flawless patio home to bespoke timber seating and of course that fully-powered garden studio, skylit and ideal for turning to all manner of uses.

Back inside and a spotless spare WC completes the ground floor while upstairs both bedrooms are substantial doubles finished in soft pastel grape tones and sharing a Jack & Jill bathroom with walk-in shower. Finally, head up the brightly lit staircase for the glorious loft conversion, featuring a third sizeable double with garden view and a skylit, ingeniously arranged en suite bathroom with both tub and dedicated shower cubicle.

WHAT ELSE?

- You're lucky enough to have the well-stocked railways arches of Winchelsea Road just two minutes away at the end of your street. Here, Pretty Decent Beer and The Wanstead Tap will satisfy craft beer lovers while Arch Rivals and The Wanstead Kitchen will be the scene of many a happy date night.
- Once the favoured hunting grounds of Henry VIII, Wanstead Flats is still some of the wildest, wide open green space for miles around. Perfect for morning jogs and evening strolls, you're particularly handy for the blue waters of Jubilee Pond.
- Local schools are excellent and plentiful, with twenty one primary/secondaries all less than a mile away on foot and all deemed either 'Good' or 'Outstanding' by Ofsted.

a word from the owners.....

"We moved here 5 years ago and really liked the area from the start; the friendly community, the flats at the end of the road and such easy access into the centre of town have been great. It has since gone from strength to strength, though, with so many new cafes, pubs, bars and restaurants opening up on our doorstep. With the birth of our two sons the proximity of local nurseries, playgrounds, schools and the influx of young families like us has been terrific. We have refurbished the house throughout in this time, and it has been a real labour of love, giving us everything we need as our family has grown. The home office in the garden has been a bit of a life saver during the pandemic - it really has been a delightful home."

Our Local Guide:
Forest Gate

Pevensey Road, Forest Gate — Stow Brothers

If you’ve already heard Chiwetel Ejiofor or Idris Elba proudly discussing their hometown, you probably don’t need us to convince you of Forest Gate’s merits, but for those who haven’t, let us catch you up…

With a heritage rooted in culture, it’s not surprising that Forest Gate has a strong creative community today. During just one week in the 60s, the Upper Cut Club music venue there hosted – deep breath – The Who, the Animals, the Spencer Davis Group, Geno Washington and Jimi Hendrix. These days you’re more likely to find the area’s artistic-types supping drinks in the cool cafes and bars. Along with the period property and proximity to green space, this independent scene has been the main draw for new arrivals to the area, although the fact that Forest Gate will be on the Crossrail’s Elizabeth line has definitely helped nudge people in the right direction.

Transport links

With trains running every ten minutes, the Overground can get you to Liverpool Street in 13 minutes. In the south, Plaistow is on the District and Hammersmith & City tube lines, and when Crossrail arrives, you’ll be able to get to Tottenham Court Road in just 17 minutes.

Great Pubs

Wine bars, gastro pubs, microbrews, traditional boozers… With so many drinking establishments in Forest Gate, taking ‘a trip to the local’ can be a tricky decision. Burgess Hall Wines, The Cider House, The Holly Tree and Forest Gate Tavern are just a few of the places to choose between.

Plenty of period property

Forest Gate has an abundance of Victorian housing, ranging from terraces in the area dubbed ‘Forest Gate Village’ to semis and detached in the Woodgrange Estate conservation area. Whether you’re after a doer-upper or recently renovated period property, there should be something for your budget.
