Nightingale Lane, one of Wanstead's lesser known social highlights, is just around the corner, for much-loved local gourmet pubs The Duke Wanstead and Nightingale on the Green. South Asian restaurant The Lane's well worth a visit, too.

You'll be stretching out in your twenty four foot long open plan reception, artfully segmented by a timber-flanked stairway. Natural light pours into your south-facing lounge courtesy of a trio of windows, while gorgeous green views tantalise outside. Follow those wooden floorboards through for your dining area and on under the arch for your kitchen. It's the perfect hosting space.

Your kitchen itself comes decked out in a mint suite of cabinets, marbled ebony countertops and whitewashed boards underfoot. Head upstairs now and your primary bedroom's 115 square feet with built-in storage, plush carpet and a dreamy lush green view. Bedroom two is ninety square feet and just as impeccable. Lastly the bathroom's home to a teardrop tub, gleaming white tiles from tub to ceiling and a mirrored cabinet.

Bare Brew was set up by Gemma and Lisa and serves up incredible brunches in a dog-friendly environment, while award-winning Sumo Fresh's pumpkin korokke is out of this world. Be sure to try the delicious Sunday roasts at The Bull.

a word from the owners...

"We have loved our time in this flat - the living area gets the sunshine most of the day and we have a lovely view out onto the green. The flat is spacious and has plenty of storage which was one of many reasons we bought it. Access to green spaces has been a huge plus of living here, Epping Forest is on our doorstep, along with Wanstead Park, the Flats & Hollow ponds. We are both keen runners and there are plenty of walking and running routes around - including access to the River Roding path at the end of the road! We're also in easy tube or bike ride of all that Stratford and Hackney have to offer, and only a few minutes walk to Wanstead High Street, with plenty of independent shops and restaurants, including a fantastic fish monger, butcher, green grocer and bakery."

Our Local Guide:

Nightingale Lane, Wanstead — Stow Brothers

Thanks to its royal connections and grand properties, Wanstead has previously been compared to the likes of Twickenham and Richmond, although East Londoners are quick to point out that it has plenty enough merits of its own.

For a start, despite its villagey feel, it’s proudly nestled within London’s most creative quadrant and only a short hop on the Central line from the bright lights of the City. There’s also an abundance of green space – Wanstead Flats, Epping Forest, Wanstead Park and Chalet Wood, with the seasonal display of bluebells in the latter just calling out for an accompanying picnic from one of the well-stocked local delis or cafes. But that’s not to say that Wanstead’s charming pubs and restaurants aren’t delightful to look at themselves – it’ll be deciding which to go for that’s the problem.
