a word from the owners...

"We moved in as a newly married couple and leave, after six happy years, as a family of four. The community here is exceptionally welcoming; many families grew up on this road and we count our immediate neighbours as friends. As an end of terrace, the house is private and quiet. Our south-facing garden is a green oasis and a sun trap on warm days. The roomy, open plan downstairs is perfect for entertaining – we’ve hosted many dinner parties here. The loft extension gave us a luxurious master bedroom, with views of golden sunsets and the City skyline. The area keeps growing with new amenities: La Pinch Deli; Aldi; Blondie’s Brewery; fitness facilities at the brand-new Lea Valley Ice Centre; and the architectural award-winning Lea Bridge Library. Local stalwarts like BB Café and Bodrum Kitchen serve impeccable food. We’re in the catchment for outstanding schools and nurseries. Both our children went to St Saviour’s nursery; our older daughter now attends Willow Brook Primary. We’re leaving only to be closer to family, but we’ll always adore this home."

Our Local Guide:
Leyton

Millicent Road, Leyton — Stow Brothers

Assured locals barely bat an eyelid when the national press dub Leyton one of ‘best places to live’ in London – it’s been a regular feature since the 2012 London Olympics regeneration, but the area’s constant evolution means even frequent visitors can get taken aback by just how much it has going on.

With the lively cafes on Francis Road, the bustling High Road, the family-friendly footie action and easy access to the Olympic Park, Leyton can often feel like a city within a city. What’s more, these various layers work together to create a balanced community that comes free of any pretension, so even newbies can find themselves having a natter with the locals while they explore Leyton’s latest delights. It’s an easy reach too, with the Central line connecting Leyton with the city to the west, and leafy Essex to the east.

Features + Perks

Transport links

There’s no ‘late’ in Leyton thanks to the excellent transport links. Leyton tube is on the Central line with direct trains into the City and Central London, while Leyton Midland Road is handily placed on the Overground line, as is the new-ish Lea Bridge station.

Great Pubs

Whether you want a quiet pint in the sunshine or a night of banging tunes, Leyton has you covered for pubs. With The Leyton Star, The Coach & Horses, William the Fourth, locals and visitors are spoilt for choice.

Plenty of period property

Leyton’s amenities might be largely new additions, but a lot of the property is gloriously old. Victorian and Edwardian houses are plentiful - including budget-friendly ‘doer-uppers’, and the wide tree-lined streets add further appeal.
