"I’ve lived in the area for over 20 years and Melford Road has been my favourite house and street. I purchased the house after a thoughtful and extensive renovation, with quality materials, clever use of space and attention to drawing additional light. The area is friendly, has a good community, and has been a brilliant place for my kids (and the friends they’ve made on the street). With no through road, the streets are quiet, particularly at night. We’ve enjoyed being only a few minutes from so many green spaces, with (seemingly!) endless games of football on Wanstead Flats, walks in Wanstead Park and cycle rides in Epping Forest. In the other direction, it is only a short cycle or run to the Olympic Park. Melford Rd has two great local pubs (Northcote & Mammoth Tap) with the Arch Deli, Filly Brook, Heathcote & Star and Francis Road only a short walk away. Transport links are great. It’s a short walk to the Central Line and the nearby Overground put us close to the Victoria Line and opens up Hamstead Heath. Overall, our time in Melford Road has been an extremely happy one, with a lovely house in a great community. We’ll miss being here."

Say the name to one person and they might think of the grand houses around Hollow Ponds, while say it to someone else and they’ll mention burgeoning South Leytonstone, or maybe the popular Bushwood. There are many different pockets, but they’re all united by the same inclusive community who recognise that it’s the balance of it all that makes Leytonstone so great.

The centre is arguably the high street with its eclectic shops and eateries, but you only have to venture slightly further away and you’ll come across hidden gems like bar Filly Brook on Grove Green Road, music venue Luna Lounge in Bushwood, or the The Hitchcock Hotel in Upper Leytonstone. Travel a little beyond and you’ll find further contrast with the vast green space that Hollow Ponds and the Wanstead Flats provide. Simply put, you’ll never get bored in Leytonstone.
