IF YOU LIVED HERE...

There is a natural flow between living and dining areas, giving you flexibility for family life, hosting friends or carving out a quiet corner to work from home. a word from the expert...

“Manor Park is a unique, eclectic area, packed with Victorian tree lined streets. There’s a choice of great gastro pubs like The Forest Tavern and The Golden Fleece and to the north of the area, opens up to the green space of Wanstead Flats, a serene getaway leading away from the hustle and bustle of urban life up into Epping Forest. Wanstead Park itself, in the former grounds of Wanstead House, takes in walking trails, cycle paths and several ornamental lakes, a great place to relax, exercise and soak up some local history. The area also offers a vast array of transport links such as the Overground and Tube, and this has recently been vastly improved with the Elizabeth Line opening, offering swift transport across Central London and even out to Heathrow Airport”. Our Local Guide:
Manor Park

Meanley Road, Manor Park — Stow Brothers

Although it might sound like a Downton Abbey spin-off, in reality Manor Park is a dynamic hotspot for East London creatives, attracted by its independent scene, affordable prices and abundance of green space.

At its heart is the striking Grade II-listed Old Manor Park Library, which was built by philanthropist Andrew Carnegie in 1904 and recently transformed into studio spaces for artists and the local community. This thoughtful old-meets-news fusion is reflective of the area as a whole, with the lively centre giving way to charming property, historic buildings and laid-back parks.

The biggest development of recent years has been the Crossrail, with the Elizabeth line making a stop at Manor Park. But even before that juggernaut arrived in town, transport links have been excellent – Manor Park is only a short walk to three London Underground lines, meaning locals and visitors can nip into Central London in just 30 mins.

Transport links

It’s already only 13 minutes from Manor Park to Liverpool Street on the Overground, but when Crossrail launches it will be possible to travel to the West End in just 20 mins. East Ham on the District line and Hammersmith & City line is the nearest London Underground station.

Open green spaces

Manor Park isn’t just a name, it’s also an actual green space situated within Wanstead Flats at the southernmost tip of Epping Forest. Interesting fact; it’s rumoured to be the inspiration behind the Small Faces’ hit Itchycoo Park - the band’s frontman and guitarist Steve Marriot grew up locally.

Plenty of period property

Manor Park is proud of its streets of Victorian and Edwardian property, some of which overlook the Wanstead Flats. You should find a mix of refurbished and doer-uppers, as well as double bayed and compact terraces, making the area suitable for a range of budgets.
