Bright and bursting with character, this five bedroom period home has been lovingly restored with the perfect balance of modern convenience and traditional charm. There’s a bathroom on both the upper floors, plus a ground floor WC, as well a double-reception area, dine-in kitchen, study room and landscaped garden at the rear.

Located on a peaceful tree-lined street, the home is just a few minutes from the brilliant amenities of Winchelsea Road and the historical greenery of Wanstead Flats, while Forest Gate station is half a mile away, where you can hop on the new Elizabeth line and reach central London in less time than it takes to write your shopping list.

IF YOU LIVED HERE

Period tradition sits in harmony alongside contemporary flair across three floors of impressively planned living space.

The front reception room will be your hideaway, with its bay windows, stunning feature fireplace, soft colour palette and rich wood flooring, while the rear could make a fantastic dining space. Because of the charming partition doors, you can open the entire space up, making the most of the dual aspect windows and natural light, or create two contained spaces so that everyone in the household can have a bit of space.

The dine-in kitchen also offers plenty of space and natural light, as well as pristine cabinets and integrated appliances. You’ll enjoy the convenience of having a downstairs WC, as well as the handy utility cupboard with power and plumbing for laundry facilities.

The rear door opens up onto a fantastic garden with a patio and array of planters and foliage, as well as a low maintenance lawn that’s perfect for play.

There are three stylishly decorated bedrooms with more of those classic features on the first floor, and also a great family bathroom with smart fittings and an over-tub shower, while in the loft there are two more smart bedrooms, as well as another pristine bathroom.

Just beyond your lovely front door, you’ll find the grounds of Wanstead Flats (Henry VIII’s favoured hunting ground no less), perfect for dog-walkers, fitness fans and picnickers.

For more of an urban buzz, head to Winchelsea Road, a thriving hub with some fantastic eateries located in the old railway arches. Look out for Pretty Decent Beer, The Wanstead Kitchen, Wild Goose Bakery and Arch Rivals.

In the other direction, to the south of Wanstead Flats, you’ll come across the Golden Fleece, a traditional pub with a beer garden, well-stocked menu and a great selection of locally brewed ales.

WHAT ELSE...

- Forest Gate station is around eight minutes on foot, where you can use the Crossrail to get directly to Liverpool Street in about 13 mins or Bond St in 19 mins.
- Parents will be pleased to know you have a wide choice of 'Good' and 'Outstanding' primary and secondary schools less than a mile away on foot.
- More pub options? You’ve got The Wanstead Tap, a bar, beer shop and performance space 16 minute’s from your home on foot, or The Holly Tree, which is slightly nearer and offers up great grub plus a miniature railway.

a word from the owners.....

"We have loved living in this house and have made many happy memories here. It was in a poor condition when we bought it and over the past decade we have spent much time and effort renovating it from top to bottom, to make it the lovely family home it is today. We have enjoyed many hours planting and harvesting our own fruit and veg in the garden, entertaining friends and family and having barbeques. It has been fantastic over the past few years to have ample space for both of us to work from home. We are very lucky to enjoy lots of great amenities on our doorstep such as Wanstead Flats (a wonderful place for a walk or a picnic), numerous local pubs, restaurants, and cafes, and all of the facilities of the Olympic Park and Stratford nearby. Transportation is so easy with both Elizabeth and Overground lines only a short walk away. We have fantastic neighbours and a great community here, with people from all walks of life, and interesting events happening throughout the year. It's an ideal place to raise a family and put down roots as there's lots for kids including a good choice of local schools and nurseries, a useful library, several playgrounds and a welcoming Community Garden. We are relocating to another city but we will surely miss all of the connections we have made here."

Our Local Guide:
Forest Gate

Latimer Road, Forest Gate — Stow Brothers

If you’ve already heard Chiwetel Ejiofor or Idris Elba proudly discussing their hometown, you probably don’t need us to convince you of Forest Gate’s merits, but for those who haven’t, let us catch you up…

With a heritage rooted in culture, it’s not surprising that Forest Gate has a strong creative community today. During just one week in the 60s, the Upper Cut Club music venue there hosted – deep breath – The Who, the Animals, the Spencer Davis Group, Geno Washington and Jimi Hendrix. These days you’re more likely to find the area’s artistic-types supping drinks in the cool cafes and bars. Along with the period property and proximity to green space, this independent scene has been the main draw for new arrivals to the area, although the fact that Forest Gate is now on the Crossrail’s Elizabeth line has definitely helped nudge people in the right direction.
