2 Bedroom

With its charming Victorian features, stunning restoration work, south-facing garden, two reception rooms, beautiful dine-in kitchen and excellent location, this two-bedroom house is a fantastic find.

Your tree-lined street is just a few minutes from the brilliant amenities of Winchelsea Road and the historical greenery of Wanstead Flats, while Forest Gate station is 14 minutes on foot, where you can hop on the Elizabeth line and reach central London in less time than it takes to read a chapter of your book.

It’ll take a long time before the novelty of walking up to your handsome brick-fronted home wears off. The contrast tones of the sash bay windows will be particularly pleasing, but it gets even better as you step inside. Your front reception room is a stunning display of interior design, with features such as the wood burning stove, cast iron radiator, ornate coving and custom shelving bringing character to the considered neutral colour palette.

Behind it, you’ll find another bright reception room, which has been immaculately decorated and includes more of those striking features, such as the cast iron radiator. The cleverly designed partition wall with custom shelving allows light to flow through the rear of the house while still retaining this central room as a self-contained space. Your dine-in kitchen is a show-stopper of space, and sure to become the heart of your home. You’ll love the level of consideration that’s gone into the design, from the brass fittings to the gloriously rustic original flooring. All of this traditional is balanced perfectly with modern convenience, so you’ll find high tech appliances and sleek units.

At the rear is your charming south-facing garden, which features Ketley quarry tiles and an abundance of leafy foliage. Back inside, you’ll be pleased to discover that your bathroom is just as pristine and modern as the kitchen, while upstairs you have two beautifully balanced bedrooms with more of that immaculate decor and stunning wood flooring. When you can tear yourself away, you’ve got fantastic amenities nearby. Start with a stroll to Wanstead Flats. It was once Henry VIII’s favoured hunting ground, but these day you’re more likely to find dog-walkers, fitness fans and picnickers there.

Hungry? Head to Winchelsea Road, a thriving hub with some fantastic eateries located in the old railway arches - about five mins on foot. Look out for Pretty Decent Beer, Joyau Wine Bar, The Wanstead Kitchen and Wild Goose Bakery. Also five minutes away is The Holly Tree, which will be fantastic choice for a local pub. Not only does it have great grub, it has a miniature railway.

- Forest Gate station is around 14 minutes on foot, where you can use the Elizabeth line to get directly to Liverpool Street in about 13 mins or Bond St in 19 mins. Drivers have easy access to the M25 and North Circular, too.
- Parents will be pleased to know you have a wide choice of great primary and secondary schools in the area.
-You’ll never be stuck for essentials since there’s an abundance of convenience stores nearby, plus you’re only a four minute hop on the Elizabeth line from Stratford for Westfield (and the Olympic Park).

a word from the expert...

"When I decided to move to Forest Gate a few years ago, I was drawn by the great housing stock, the green spaces of Wanstead Flats and the friendly, up-and-coming vibe of independent boutiques, eateries, and bars. I’ve spent many a happy weekend walking on the flats and in Wanstead Park. Often, I’ll finish up with an all-trimmings roast at The Holly Tree or perhaps a fantastic curry from The Wanstead Kitchen. After living here for a while, you really start to feel happy and settled. I love the arty, independent feel of Forest Gate, and I get the impression I’m not the only one — it’s something all the locals nurture and support." JOSEPH EARNSHAW E7 BRANCH MANAGER

Our Local Guide:

Huddlestone Road, Forest Gate — Stow Brothers

If you’ve already heard Chiwetel Ejiofor or Idris Elba proudly discussing their hometown, you probably don’t need us to convince you of Forest Gate’s merits, but for those who haven’t, let us catch you up…

With a heritage rooted in culture, it’s not surprising that Forest Gate has a strong creative community today. During just one week in the 60s, the Upper Cut Club music venue there hosted – deep breath – The Who, the Animals, the Spencer Davis Group, Geno Washington and Jimi Hendrix. These days you’re more likely to find the area’s artistic-types supping drinks in the cool cafes and bars. Along with the period property and proximity to green space, this independent scene has been the main draw for new arrivals to the area, although the fact that Forest Gate is now on the Crossrail’s Elizabeth line has definitely helped nudge people in the right direction.
