IF YOU LIVED HERE:

We are sure you will agree that this is a home that you can move into, unpack and enjoy immediately. The recent renovation has been tastefully done to ensure that light and space has been maximised, with the original features blending perfectly with the contemporary design touches. Your front door opens into the spacious and bright lounge, engineered wooden flooring perfectly complementing the pale moss coloured walls. You have a lovely wooden fire surround as well, and the bay window means this room is beautifully bright. The staircase separates your two reception rooms, with the rear reception opening into your state of the art kitchen. These rooms are both bright and airy, with the keen eye for design and detail evident. You will love the parquet flooring in the kitchen, as well as the sumptuous blue units. Your appliances are integrated to create a seamless and attractive aesthetic, the wooden floor and neutral wall colour in the rear reception enhancing this feel. That lovely parquet style flooring continues out to the family bathroom, which sits beyond the kitchen. You will love the metro style tiling as well as the waterfall shower over tub feature in this chic room. Outside, your low maintenance garden features paved areas for al fresco dining and bbqing, alongside mature raised beds bursting with blooms and shrubs for a pleasant green touch. You are going to enjoy the pagoda feature at the bottom of the garden, a wonderful spot to sit and bask in the sunshine. You even have a handy little shed for storing your garden gadgets.
Back inside, you will notice that the flair for design continues up the staircases which feature exposed and painted floorboards. You have two bedrooms on the first floor, the bedroom to the front is a very large double and is beautifully bright thanks to the two large windows. Up again, and the loft has been artfully converted to provide an additional en-suite bedroom and some useful eaves storage. This conversion has been completed to an exceptionally high standard, with large panoramic windows allowing the light to flood in, and a luxury walk-in shower and terrazzo style flooring in the en-suite.

a word from the expert...

"When I decided to move to Forest Gate a few years ago, I was drawn by the great housing stock, the green spaces of Wanstead Flats and the friendly, up-and-coming vibe of independent boutiques, eateries, and bars.  I’ve spent many a happy weekend walking on the flats and in Wanstead Park. Often, I’ll finish up with an all-trimmings roast at The Holly Tree or meet friends for a drink at Burgess & Hall Wines (Roz and Paul there really know their grapes!). Or perhaps a fantastic curry from The Wanstead Kitchen. After living here for a while, you really start to feel happy and settled. I love the arty, independent feel of Forest Gate, and I get the impression I’m not the only one — it’s something all the locals nurture and support."   JOSEPH EARNSHAW E7 BRANCH MANAGER

Our Local Guide:
Forest Gate

Huddlestone Road, Forest Gate — Stow Brothers

If you’ve already heard Chiwetel Ejiofor or Idris Elba proudly discussing their hometown, you probably don’t need us to convince you of Forest Gate’s merits, but for those who haven’t, let us catch you up…

With a heritage rooted in culture, it’s not surprising that Forest Gate has a strong creative community today. During just one week in the 60s, the Upper Cut Club music venue there hosted – deep breath – The Who, the Animals, the Spencer Davis Group, Geno Washington and Jimi Hendrix. These days you’re more likely to find the area’s artistic-types supping drinks in the cool cafes and bars. Along with the period property and proximity to green space, this independent scene has been the main draw for new arrivals to the area, although the fact that Forest Gate is now on the Crossrail’s Elizabeth line has definitely helped nudge people in the right direction.
