"Halstead Road is the perfect spot in Wanstead; it is a peaceful tree-lined road with spacious houses and gardens while still close to the high street and tube station and with popular pubs at either end. It is surrounded by outside spaces with a forest walk at one end of the high street and a beautiful park and golf course with fascinating salacious history at the other! The high street has a wide variety of independent cafes, restaurants, and shops and there is easy access to the motorways to get out of London. Overall, Wanstead is an excellent place to reside for those who prefer a leafy suburban lifestyle while still being close to the city."

Thanks to its royal connections and grand properties, Wanstead has previously been compared to the likes of Twickenham and Richmond, although East Londoners are quick to point out that it has plenty enough merits of its own. 

For a start, despite its villagey feel, it’s proudly nestled within London’s most creative quadrant and only a short hop on the Central line from the bright lights of the City. There’s also an abundance of green space – Wanstead Flats, Epping Forest, Wanstead Park and Chalet Wood, with the seasonal display of bluebells in the latter just calling out for an accompanying picnic from one of the well-stocked local delis or cafes. But that’s not to say that Wanstead’s charming pubs and restaurants aren’t delightful to look at themselves – it’ll be deciding which to go for that’s the problem.
