"Have loved living here, the property is located at a very convenient place. We have nurseries, primary and secondary schools very close by. A huge park behind the property where you can go for walks, walk a pet, play football or just take the kids out. There’s a train station at a walking distance, takes about 10 minutes to walk there. Right next to the train station there’s Woodgrange road where you can get all your shopping done (Iceland, Tesco, post office, etc). If you drive, the A12, A406, M11 are very close by too. Also churches and mosques for you to develop a sense of community if you have a religious belief. Not to mention sometimes we have community events for the children to gather, stalls set up and food etc. On Saturdays there’s a small market place set up with locals on Sebert road."

With a heritage rooted in culture, it’s not surprising that Forest Gate has a strong creative community today. During just one week in the 60s, the Upper Cut Club music venue there hosted – deep breath – The Who, the Animals, the Spencer Davis Group, Geno Washington and Jimi Hendrix. These days you’re more likely to find the area’s artistic-types supping drinks in the cool cafes and bars. Along with the period property and proximity to green space, this independent scene has been the main draw for new arrivals to the area, although the fact that Forest Gate will be on the Crossrail’s Elizabeth line has definitely helped nudge people in the right direction.
