"Since moving in in 2017 Forest Gate has gone from strength to strength. If you're into food and drink, there are a number of delicious bakeries and bars underneath the arches both to the east (Wild Goose Bakery, Wanstead Tap, Burgess & Hall Wines, Arch Rivals bodega) and the west (Tracks cafe & record shop, The Cider House). The overground station has been renovated along with the whole area outside the station, with Crossrail due to arrive by summer 2022 providing direct access into central London in roughly 15 minutes. Having the flats on your doorstep and access to Wanstead park and Epping Forest is a huge bonus. We often walk our dog through the flats and up to Wanstead on a weekend for breakfast at one of the many excellent cafes on the high street. As my first property i'll be sad to leave it behind but we have grown very fond of Forest gate and are staying in the area."

If you’ve already heard Chiwetel Ejiofor or Idris Elba proudly discussing their hometown, you probably don’t need us to convince you of Forest Gate’s merits, but for those who haven’t, let us catch you up…

With a heritage rooted in culture, it’s not surprising that Forest Gate has a strong creative community today. During just one week in the 60s, the Upper Cut Club music venue there hosted – deep breath – The Who, the Animals, the Spencer Davis Group, Geno Washington and Jimi Hendrix. These days you’re more likely to find the area’s artistic-types supping drinks in the cool cafes and bars. Along with the period property and proximity to green space, this independent scene has been the main draw for new arrivals to the area, although the fact that Forest Gate will be on the Crossrail’s Elizabeth line has definitely helped nudge people in the right direction.
