An utterly covetable and captivating two bedroom Victorian cottage, nestled amongst lush thriving foliage on the borders of Wanstead Flats, just a five minute stroll from Forest Gate station. Brimming with character, this is a real treasure.

Despite your ample local greenery, you're especially well served for transport connections here, with Wanstead Park overground just three minutes' walk for the Gospel Oak to Barking Riverside line. Recently extended, it's now your direct connection to the River Thames.

IF YOU LIVED HERE..

You'll step into your front garden, a quiet riot of lush colourful greenery screening you nicely from the road, and into your hallway to find the first of your twin receptions on the right. Pale blonde engineered hardwood flooring and pristine white walls contrast with a striking green chimney breast to fine effect, while your bay window frames your front garden. Reception two to the rear is similarly styled and sizeable, with splashes of crimson.

Elsewhere your kitchen's smartly decked out with slate grey floor tiling, timber worktops and a Belfast sink, while the ground floor's completed by your family bathroom with a glorious walk-in rainfall shower tiled from top to toe in smoky grey. Outside your rear garden's lush and secluded, from the side return festooned with pots to the deck and whitewashed rear wall. A splendid solace. Upstairs you have original timber floorboards, and two double bedrooms complete the property.

Once the playground of Tudor kings and queens, Wanstead Flats remains some of the wildest, wide open green space for miles around. Ideal for morning jogs or evening strolls, home to woodlands and ponds it's the perfect place to blow away the cobwebs and it all starts just a literal moment from your front door. Also nearby is Forest Gate station, just a five minute walk for direct thirteen minute connections to Liverpool Street via the new Elizabeth line. Heading to the West End? Tottenham Court Road is just another five minutes.

a word from the owner...

"A lovely home, on a quiet cul-de-sac, with wonderful friendly neighbours and Wanstead Flats green space at the end of the road. Less than a 5 minute walk to train stations (Wanstead Park and Forest Gate), shops, restaurants and bus links. I have loved living in the area for 19 years. It's a wonderful area and with great people. I am moving to relocate overseas otherwise I would be staying for much longer."

Our Local Guide:
Forest Gate

Forest Side, Forest Gate — Stow Brothers

If you’ve already heard Chiwetel Ejiofor or Idris Elba proudly discussing their hometown, you probably don’t need us to convince you of Forest Gate’s merits, but for those who haven’t, let us catch you up…

With a heritage rooted in culture, it’s not surprising that Forest Gate has a strong creative community today. During just one week in the 60s, the Upper Cut Club music venue there hosted – deep breath – The Who, the Animals, the Spencer Davis Group, Geno Washington and Jimi Hendrix. These days you’re more likely to find the area’s artistic-types supping drinks in the cool cafes and bars. Along with the period property and proximity to green space, this independent scene has been the main draw for new arrivals to the area, although the fact that Forest Gate is now on the Crossrail’s Elizabeth line has definitely helped nudge people in the right direction.
