IF YOU LIVED HERE...

It’ll take a long time before the novelty of walking up to your handsome home wears off, particularly with the immaculate brick work smart front garden. Beyond your charming porch you’ll find a spacious, dual aspect through-lounge, with plenty of natural-light and a tasteful colour palette, as well as lovely period features, such as the ornate coving and timber floors. At the rear, you’ll find your dine-in kitchen, which also benefits from lots of natural light, as well as brilliant features such as the bay window and butler basin. You’ll appreciate being able to open the doors to your spacious garden, which has been lovingly landscaped by the previous owners. Here you’ll find a sizeable patio with pergola, as well as planters, a rolling lawn, mature foliage and a charming summer house. Of course, you’ve also got your ground floor WC, which will be fantastically convenient. The cellar space will also help banish clutter from your life, too. There are three good-sized bedrooms with more of those classic features on the first floor, as well as a stylish family bathroom with striking metro tiles and brass fittings. When you’re ready to leave your new home, you’ll be delighted to find some fantastic amenities nearby. Start with a stroll to Wanstead Flats (Henry VIII’s favoured hunting ground), which is ideal for dog-walkers, fitness fans and picnickers. Hungry? Head to Winchelsea Road, a thriving hub with some fantastic eateries located in the old railway arches - about seven mins on foot. Look out for Pretty Decent Beer, The Wanstead Kitchen, Wild Goose Bakery and Arch Rivals. In the other direction, you’ll come across the Golden Fleece, a traditional pub with a beer garden, well-stocked menu and a great selection of locally brewed ales.

WHAT ELSE?

- Forest Gate station is around five minutes on foot, where you can use the Crossrail to get directly to Liverpool Street in about 13 mins or Bond St in 19 mins.
- Parents will be pleased to know you have a choice 'Good' and 'Outstanding' primary and secondary schools in the area.
-You’ll never be stuck for essentials since there’s an abundance of convenience stores nearby, plus you’re only a short four minute hop on the Elizabeth line from Stratford for Westfield and the Olympic Park.

a word from the owner...

"When we made the decision to move to Forest Gate 8 years ago it was a very different place to what it is now, but we knew it had the potential to grow into the community we were searching for and it did just that and more. Yes it has cool little cafes, bakeries, restaurants and pubs and it’s just 15 minutes into central London but what makes Forest Gate so special is the community it holds. The best part? We haven’t yet seen it all, this place’s charm still has room for more growth. This particular house has been a sanctuary for us as a family, with the births of both our children having made this place a home that holds so many special memories for us and we hope that it will for you too. Our neighbours are some of the friendliest, kindest people we know and if we weren’t leaving to make new memories in a whole other country, we’d be investing in converting the loft and expanding into this home and staying here long term. We hope you can feel the warmth this home holds for you and we’re excited for what it’s next adventure holds."

Our Local Guide:
Forest Gate

Essex Street, Forest Gate — Stow Brothers

If you’ve already heard Chiwetel Ejiofor or Idris Elba proudly discussing their hometown, you probably don’t need us to convince you of Forest Gate’s merits, but for those who haven’t, let us catch you up…

With a heritage rooted in culture, it’s not surprising that Forest Gate has a strong creative community today. During just one week in the 60s, the Upper Cut Club music venue there hosted – deep breath – The Who, the Animals, the Spencer Davis Group, Geno Washington and Jimi Hendrix. These days you’re more likely to find the area’s artistic-types supping drinks in the cool cafes and bars. Along with the period property and proximity to green space, this independent scene has been the main draw for new arrivals to the area, although the fact that Forest Gate is now on the Crossrail’s Elizabeth line has definitely helped nudge people in the right direction.
