a word from the owner...

"We thoroughly enjoy living in Leyton, it’s such a vibrant community with so much to offer. Just round the corner is Francis Road, a beautiful street where you can get amazing coffee, unique wines, the best sourdough around and so much more! There are also great pubs and restaurants within walking distance, I particularly like the Heathcote & Star. Plus there is a Pilates studio at the end of the road, so you really do have everything you need on your doorstep. Dawlish Road is a great street to live on, it’s really pretty with trees lining the path and the neighbours are great. Also very importantly the transport links are great, the Overground is nearby and so is the Central Line which gets you into Liverpool Street in 12 minutes."

Our Local Guide:
Leyton

Dawlish Road, Leyton — Stow Brothers

Assured locals barely bat an eyelid when the national press dub Leyton one of ‘best places to live’ in London – it’s been a regular feature since the 2012 London Olympics regeneration, but the area’s constant evolution means even frequent visitors can get taken aback by just how much it has going on.

With the lively cafes on Francis Road, the bustling High Road, the family-friendly footie action and easy access to the Olympic Park, Leyton can often feel like a city within a city. What’s more, these various layers work together to create a balanced community that comes free of any pretension, so even newbies can find themselves having a natter with the locals while they explore Leyton’s latest delights. It’s an easy reach too, with the Central line connecting Leyton with the city to the west, and leafy Essex to the east.

Features + Perks

Transport links

There’s no ‘late’ in Leyton thanks to the excellent transport links. Leyton tube is on the Central line with direct trains into the City and Central London, while Leyton Midland Road is handily placed on the Overground line, as is the new-ish Lea Bridge station.

Great Pubs

Whether you want a quiet pint in the sunshine or a night of banging tunes, Leyton has you covered for pubs. With The Leyton Star, The Coach & Horses, William the Fourth, locals and visitors are spoilt for choice.

Plenty of period property

Leyton’s amenities might be largely new additions, but a lot of the property is gloriously old. Victorian and Edwardian houses are plentiful - including budget-friendly ‘doer-uppers’, and the wide tree-lined streets add further appeal.
