A substantial three bedroom maisonette, arranged across the first and second floors of a charming 1950s brick development, just a short stroll from Forest Gate Station, Winchelsea Arches and the great green expanse of Wanstead Flats.

Once the favoured hunting grounds of Tudor kings and queens, Wanstead Flats remains some of the wildest, wide open green space for miles around. It all starts just two minutes from your front door - you'll forget you're in London.

IF YOU LIVED HERE...

You'll step inside and find your wonderfully spacious reception immediately on the right. A bright and generous 220 square feet, in here lovingly restored original timber floorboards flow underfoot, and a Juliet balcony opens up to lovely leafy treetop views. Next door your kitchen features smoky grey vinyl tiling underfoot, cream cabinets and timber worktops sat below a metro tile splashback.

Upstairs now for the sleeping arrangements. Your principal bedroom's a handsome 140 square footer, pristine and white with twin windows, one a floor to ceiling affair looking over rooftops and treetops. Soft grey carpet runs underfoot. Next door you have a generous single, ideal for use as a study and with its own floor to ceiling window. Bedroom three's another double, smart and bright with fitted storage, and your family bathroom completes things in pale blue with a shower over the large tub.

Outside, and Forest Gate station is less than half a mile on foot for the clean and speedy Elizabeth line, with direct thirteen minute runs to Liverpool Street putting the City well within half an hour door to door. Tottenham Court Road is just five minutes further for the West End. If you're staying local then you'll be pleased to find a fine range of eateries on your doorstep - the railway arches of nearby Winchelsea Road are just a couple of minutes away and home to much loved spots like The Wanstead Kitchen, Wild Goose Bakery and the Pretty Decent Beer taproom.

WHAT ELSE?

- Parents will be pleased to find six 'Outstanding' primary and secondary schools all within an easy twenty minute stroll. The 'Outstanding' Forest Gate Community School is just eight minutes away.

a word from the owner...

"We have absolutely loved living on Dames Road, Forest Gate has a wonderful sense of community, we are in a Neighbours Whatsapp group, and have attended comedy nights together at The Ciderhouse. The flat itself is super spacious, with loads of natural light, and having stairs makes it feel like a house. It’s got some lovely original features, with the exposed brick fireplace and a quirky little hatch between the kitchen and living room. The kitchen is a really lovely, easy space to cook and chat with friends or family, and adds to the feeling of spaciousness as it looks out onto the communal gardens. There’s plenty of room to work from home, with the handy office that could double up as a nursery if the need ever arose. The Wanstead Flats and Epping Forest are literally on our doorstep, as is The Holly Tree pub, so all our health and hospitality needs are well catered for! It’s also barely a stone's throw from the Winchelsea arches and the delicious cafes and bars there, the wine bar Joyou being a particular highlight for us - and though we haven't tried it yet ourselves, there's a new yoga studio (E7 Movement) that's just moved into the arches. We’ll be sad to leave our first home together, we have been really happy here - but we know that you’ll enjoy the space and location as much as we have."

Dames Road, Forest Gate — Stow Brothers

If you’ve already heard Chiwetel Ejiofor or Idris Elba proudly discussing their hometown, you probably don’t need us to convince you of Forest Gate’s merits, but for those who haven’t, let us catch you up…

With a heritage rooted in culture, it’s not surprising that Forest Gate has a strong creative community today. During just one week in the 60s, the Upper Cut Club music venue there hosted – deep breath – The Who, the Animals, the Spencer Davis Group, Geno Washington and Jimi Hendrix. These days you’re more likely to find the area’s artistic-types supping drinks in the cool cafes and bars. Along with the period property and proximity to green space, this independent scene has been the main draw for new arrivals to the area, although the fact that Forest Gate is now on the Crossrail’s Elizabeth line has definitely helped nudge people in the right direction.

Great Pubs

Wine bars, gastro pubs, microbrews, traditional boozers… With so many drinking establishments in Forest Gate, taking ‘a trip to the local’ can be a tricky decision. The CiderHouse, The Holly Tree and Forest Gate Tavern are just a few of the places to choose between.

Plenty of period property

Forest Gate has an abundance of Victorian housing, ranging from terraces in the area dubbed ‘Forest Gate Village’ to semis and detached in the Woodgrange Estate conservation area. Whether you’re after a doer-upper or recently renovated period property, there should be something for your budget.
