WHAT ELSE?

- You are perfectly placed for the multiple, award winning eateries this pocket of East London enjoys.
- You’re a short 15 minute walk from Time Out Restaurant of the Year 2021, Singburi. For authentic Thai food in unassuming surroundings this hidden gem is one not to miss.
- Homies on Donkeys, who serve up award winning tacos, recently announced they are opening a new space on Leytonstone High Road. They used to attract crowds of hundreds at their taqueria in neighbouring Walthamstow’s Wood Street market so, once opened in E11, this is going to be the place to be.

a word from the owner...

"We've loved our time at Borthwick Road and will miss this home which has been the best first home for us. We fell in the love with the bright, spacious rooms, tall ceilings, and the beautiful period features - we've done lots of socialising in the open-plan kitchen-diner! So much so that we installed a new kitchen, modernised the bathroom and gave the place a lick of paint. The tree lined road is quiet, friendly, and situated a few minutes from Maryland or a 10min walk to Stratford or Leyton. At the weekend we often wondered over to Wanstead Flats, visiting the lovely local pubs, and nearby Wanstead Village. We'll miss the delicious cakes from Wild Goose Bakery, ales at the Holly Tree and all the lovely walks including nearby Epping Forest. Also close is Francis Road (baked goods) and Leytonstone Farmers' Market (browsing). It's the perfect home for enjoying everything this vibrant area has to offer whilst also having the added extra of West London being accessible in 20 minutes thanks to the completion of Elizabeth line."

Our Local Guide:
Stratford

Borthwick Road, Stratford — Stow Brothers

Given it’s been almost a decade since the Olympic torch touched down in Stratford, it’s probably time to let this part of East London shine on its own. It truly is a destination in its own right, with a multitude of restaurants, bars and pubs cropping up in the area, and that’s before we’ve even mentioned one of the largest shopping centres in Europe. Yep, Westfield might draw most visitors to the area, but Stratford’s Market Village is a hidden gem and where you’ll get a true flavour of the community.

Of course, we do have to acknowledge the legacy of the London 2012 Games and the regeneration it brought to the area, including the soon to be opened East Bank. With the former Olympic venues open to the public, residents have an incredibly advanced sport and fitness facilities, while the ArcelorMittal Orbit, the world’s longest helter skelter, is quite literally Stratford’s standout feature.

Transport links

Stratford’s quite the hub. With the launch of the Crossrail, it is now on the Elizabeth line, while high-speed trains already travel between Stratford International and Ashford. The Overground runs to North London, while the Jubilee line and DLR go to Canary Wharf. Finally, London Underground’s Central line nips to the West End.

Vibrant shopping district

What can’t you get in Stratford? It really is a shopper’s delight, with everything from the luxury boutiques, high street retailers and department stores at Westfield Stratford, to the essential shops and market stalls within the Stratford Centre, and the independent stores of the East Village.

Recent regeneration/Post-Olympics

A key aim for the successful London 2012 Games bid was the wider regeneration of the area, which has resulted in one of the world’s largest cultural districts, East Bank. Universities UCL and UAL’s London College of Fashion will join the BBC, Sadler’s Wells and the V&A, opening 2022-2023.
