It's a mere seven minutes on foot from Wanstead underground in this covetable corner of Wanstead Village. You may not want to leave though, with the most dazzling foodie delights and charms of this sought-after locale on your doorstep.

IF YOU LIVED HERE...

You'll be reclining and dining in your 265 square foot lounge/diner with a generous bay window framing enticing leafy views, walnut effect hardwood flowing underfoot and a beautiful original fireplace taking centre stage. With streams of west-facing natural light pouring in, it's an ideal space for hosting. The kitchen's just off to one side, with gleaming onyx metro tiles contrasting with elegant white cabinets to fine effect. Under cabinet spotlights illuminate your culinary prep areas, the countertops echoing the walnut hues in the lounge.

Next door your bedroom's a substantial double of 125 square feet, again west-facing to cast dappled sunlight over your slumber spot come the evening. It's an immaculate space enveloped in greenery. Your bathroom comes attired in cappuccino hues with a rainfall shower over the tub, vessel sink, mirrored cabinet and heated towel tail. Lastly, your communal garden's a glorious natural solace home to carefully-tended lawn, beds and lush canopies of foliage.

Outside and Wanstead tube station is seven minutes on foot to ferry you directly into Liverpool Street in just fourteen minutes. The West End is also within easy reach; Tottenham Court Road is only nine minutes further. Alternatively, two bus routes will pick you up from the stop right outside for destinations including Manor Park, East Ham, Maryland (for the Elizabeth line) and Stratford (for interconnecting transport connections, Westfield mega mall and the Olympic Park).

Our Local Guide:
Wanstead

Blake Hall Road, Wanstead — Stow Brothers

Thanks to its royal connections and grand properties, Wanstead has previously been compared to the likes of Twickenham and Richmond, although East Londoners are quick to point out that it has plenty enough merits of its own.

For a start, despite its villagey feel, it’s proudly nestled within London’s most creative quadrant and only a short hop on the Central line from the bright lights of the City. There’s also an abundance of green space – Wanstead Flats, Epping Forest, Wanstead Park and Chalet Wood, with the seasonal display of bluebells in the latter just calling out for an accompanying picnic from one of the well-stocked local delis or cafes. But that’s not to say that Wanstead’s charming pubs and restaurants aren’t delightful to look at themselves – it’ll be deciding which to go for that’s the problem.
