a word from the owner...

"I have loved my time living in Big Hill. The flat is nestled amongst nature and so many green spaces. Springfield Park, Robin Hood Community Gardens, the River Lea, and the Walthamstow Marshes (where you'll sometimes spy cows grazing) are all moments away. There's an abundance of wonderful places to walk, eat, forage, run, drink, cycle, swim, kayak, and explore. It is also well placed for trips to Epping Forest, Victoria Park, Wick Wood, Chatsworth Road, Stoke Newington, West Reservoir, Walthamstow, and the Hackney and Tottenham Marshes (where you'll find cherry plums to munch on in the summer). There is also a great sense of community in the area, with lots of events and activities to learn new things and meet new people. Some of these include Liberty Hall community space, Leaside boat club, Growing Communities veg box and growing scheme, RARA maker space and studio, Made in Hackney community food kitchen, and Spring Lane allotment. The flat itself is quiet peaceful and spacious, with lots of natural light and fantastic views over the river and marshes (all helped by being on the top floor). There's also a lovely bunch of people living in the building. My work has taken me out of London so I'm moving on, but I could not have asked for a better first home."

Our Local Guide:

Big Hill, Hackney — Stow Brothers

Where do you start with Hackney? It can feel like it’s all been said before, but, of course, it can’t have been because the area is constantly evolving, which is what keeps it so fresh. It’s just what happens when a neighbourhood has such a high population of creative innovators.

Even fans of Hackney’s scruffier edges love the imaginative ways that the area has been regenerated, with thoughtfully-designed stores, bars and coffee shops sitting comfortably alongside sleek architecture and beloved institutions such as Ridley Road Market.

Despite all this urban buzz, the area has a surprisingly large amount of green space, including Hackney Wick, Victoria Park and London Fields, which fill up with a mix of visitors and locals at weekends. Whether they go on to have food at a Michelin-starred restaurant, a pint in The Talbot or a swim in the lido, they’re all united in their love of this most unique community.
