Forest Recycling Project

Based in Waltham Forest, Forest Recycling Project (FRP) is a social enterprise and registered charity, and has supported the local community for almost 30 years. Last year, FRP redistributed over 40,000 litres of paint to individuals, community groups, art groups, schools, and housing associations. We increase our social impact by selling the majority of our paint to low-income customers, charities and community groups as a more affordable alternative to new paint.

We’re proud of our inclusive business. At the heart of FRP’s operations are our volunteers, many of whom have worked with us for over a decade. Our volunteers come from all walks of life, and through their work with us grow their skills, confidence and support networks. FRP is able to continue its volunteering programme, ’Waltham Forest Foundations’, with the backing of the Big Lottery, and we aim to deliver both environmental benefits and promote social inclusion. We support volunteers from local communities connected with Waltham Forest and East London, especially those who are at risk of marginalisation and social exclusion. Our team works alongside them and provides the opportunity to experience the sustainability sector.

These activities include carpentry with recycled scaffolding boards; retail and customer service in our Paint Place shop; stock management and upcycling paint at our warehouse; conservation work in the local parks or food growing in an organic market garden. Fabric and Textiles is a new addition to the programme and volunteers are experiencing the therapeutic benefits of arts and crafts with textiles. We see a real improvement in our volunteers’ confidence levels and their wellbeing, with a percentage then going on to gain employment. Thanks to The Stow Brothers and their publicity support, we can now share our efforts to a wider audience as we relaunch Forest Recycling Project for 2018.

"I found Stow Brothers very helpful and professional throughout our sale. I never felt they were pushy and I felt they managed our expectations very well. Kim, who looked after us, was very approachable and professional and kept us up to date throughout the sale. I would have no hesitation in recommending their services. Thank-you. "
