Welcome to Homerton

Homerton: where Tudor history, creative energy, and top-tier pub grub come together in one of East London’s most underrated gems. Once a sleepy rural village, Homerton threw itself into silk weaving and manufacturing in the 18th and 19th centuries, helping to dress London’s elite (or at least keep them in fancy curtains). Then came the railway, and boom—urban development took off, transforming the area into a bustling working-class neighbourhood.

If you want a taste of Homertons past, Sutton House is the place to start. This stunning Tudor manor, built for one of Henry VIIIs courtiers, has somehow survived centuries of change and is now run by the National Trust.

Education and healthcare have long-held historical links here. Homerton College started out here before packing its bags for Cambridge, and the areas legacy of public service continues today with Homerton University Hospital.

These days, Homerton is packed with creativity, community spirit, and some seriously good places to eat and drink. The Adam & Eve is a stylish pub serving craft beers, cocktails, and all the good vibes, while The Spread Eagle proudly claims the title of Londons first 100% vegan pub—proving that you dont need meat to have a proper East End knees-up.

Green spaces? Youre sorted. Hackney Marshes is just a short stroll away, offering scenic walks, fresh air, and the most famous amateur football pitches in the country.
